The salty fog and mist that lingers along the seas does more damage to umbrellas than any other elements combined. It clogs the umbrellas driving mechanism and rusts its nuts and bolts,

The Uhlmann Marine Grade umbrellas were designed to prevent these problems. We use military grade sealant and lubricants that make our gear-box and spindle pipe air tight, - preventing the salt to get into those critical areas. The eye-screws and hinges are double galvanized, the joints are stainless steel to prevent rusting. The powder coating on the aluminium fame also prevent rust damage.

The circlips and screws we use are made of a special zinc alloy, that is 8 times more salt resistant than zinc coating alone.

The features that make our Marine Grade umbrellas so special, are available but optional on all other models.
